Sunstroke is the reaction of the human body to overheating under the influence of direct sunlight. Sunstroke has more serious consequences than the effects of heatstroke, although it is a variation of it.
As a result of some reactions provoked by direct sunlight, cerebral edema can occur. In the event that small blood vessels burst from the heat, small hemorrhages can occur, which, in turn, can cause disturbances in the central nervous system of a person.
If a person receives a sunstroke, as a rule, he needs urgent medical care, which, in most cases, anyone can provide. No one is safe from overheating in direct sunlight. But most of all, people with diabetes, heart disease, elderly and small children are at risk. In addition, obesity, a general weakening of the body, and even taking certain types of medications can also be a cause of sunstroke.
Symptoms of Sunstroke
Symptoms of sunstroke, as a rule, are such body reactions as:
- Stop sweating
- Sharp rise in temperature
- Nausea, vomiting, possible fainting
- Dizziness or weakness.
Cases when the result of sunstroke is the death of a person are not rare.If one or more of the above symptoms occurs, the affected person should be immediately removed from the sun in a shade or cool room. If possible, you can immerse a person in a container or pond with cool water, or wrap it with a wet towel, a cold compress is applied to the forehead. In addition, it is necessary to provide a person with a plentiful drink. At the same time, alcohol is strictly prohibited. If, as a result of a sunstroke, a person is unconscious, if possible, ammonia is brought to his nose.
If ammonia is not at hand, then just rub the whiskey. Again, if possible, the person’s legs are lifted. The ideal option is to lay on a flat surface, raise your legs just above the level of the head. In the absence of a pulse or lack of a heartbeat, it is urgent to do artificial respiration and immediately call emergency doctors.
